NAMI is quickly gaining traction in the fashion world and was well received after just one season. NAMI's principal designer, Sarah Nami Ahn, is an Army Brat, who has lived all over the world. She has a PhD in the neurosciences from UCLA. She then went onto performing surgery at Northwestern University Medical School when her brother got into a near-death motorcycle accident. With her retired parents, they took 24hr shifts to nurse him back to health after he was in a coma for 2 months. This experience shook her... as cliché as it sounds, it woke her up to life's ephemeral state. Decided to go back with her other love... art. Sarah then went back to school as an old fart against many people's judging eyes. Within less than 6 months into school at FIDM, she won a national contest to "Design the Perfect Little Black Dress" for Laundry by Shelli Segal. Her winning design was sold in major department stores such as Nordstroms and Dillard's and quickly sold out. To keep up the momentum, Sarah started a design firm shortly after working for Kelly Wearstler on her debut fashion line F/W2011 as well as her interior design projects. In less than a year, Sarah has now debuted her SS12 collection at NYFW and LAFW.
The Huffington Post names Sarah as one of the future leaders in the fashion industry.
